Lamella Clarifier

Remove sediment from wastewater reliably and effectively, using up to 90% less footprint than conventional technologies.
The Lamella Plate Clarifier is a primary clarification device used to treat sewage and industrial waste streams and requires up to 90% less space when compared to a traditional settling tank.
Lamella clarifier (also called a lamella separator or lamella thickener) is used to separate sedimentable solid (sedimentable particles) from liquids.
The Lamella Clarifier working principle is based on the settlement of colloidal particles by providing a series of inclined plates, which are arranged to form a separate sedimentation chamber between adjacent plates.
The flocculated water enters the Lamella near the bottom section of the plates and flows upward between them.
As the water moves upwards, solids settle downward by the plates onto the surface area provided by the plates.
Solids continue to slide down the plate surfaces to the collection hopper.

Applications
  • Primary clarification of municipal sewage and industrial wastewater.
  • Pre-treatment in ETP/STP to reduce suspended solids and turbidity load on downstream units.
  • Clarification in industries such as chemical, food & beverage, textile, paper, steel, pharmaceuticals, mining, and power plants.
  • Sludge thickening for improved solids concentration before dewatering.
  • Stormwater treatment where rapid settling is required due to fluctuating loads.
  • Surface water treatment for removal of colloidal and sedimentable particles.
  • Retrofit projects where available space is limited and conventional clarifiers cannot be installed.
Key Features & Benefits
  • Inclined Plate Technology providing multiple parallel sedimentation surfaces for high-rate settling.
  • Compact design requiring up to 90% less footprint compared to conventional clarifiers.
  • Efficient upflow operation allowing clarified water to move upward while solids settle downward.
  • Modular construction enables easy transportation, installation, and scalability.
  • Dedicated sludge collection hopper for effective solids removal and sludge thickening.
  • Enhanced settling performance due to controlled laminar flow between plates.
  • Low hydraulic retention time (HRT) with high clarification efficiency.
  • Reduced sensitivity to flow variations due to improved settling dynamics.
  • Durable structure made to withstand corrosive wastewater and long-term operation.

A Lamella Clarifier is a compact, high-efficiency settling system used to remove suspended and sedimentable solids from wastewater. It uses a series of inclined plates that create multiple settling surfaces, allowing faster and more effective separation compared to conventional clarifiers. This design reduces footprint by up to 90%, improves settling performance, and produces clearer effluent with minimal space and maintenance requirements.
